For the farm, the cabin and the venue at the end of the gravel road

Directions for the last mile, where the map gives up.

Write the way you would say it on the phone: from the blinking light, 2.3 miles, right at the white church. Lanecard adds the trip-meter readings, checks for the turns visitors miss, and hands it over as a phone page, a printed card and a text message.

The Halvorsen place

Start at the four-way stop by the grain elevator. Set your trip meter to 0.0 there.

  1. 0.0mi Turn left onto County Road 12. Look for the grain elevator on your right.
  2. 2.3mi Turn right onto Pine Hollow Road. Look for a white church with a green roof.
  3. 3.1mi Bear left onto the gravel fork. Look for hay bales by a blue shed.
  4. 4.7mi Turn left onto the lane. Look for a red mailbox, number 4180. Too far: the one-lane bridge.
  5. 5.0mi Arrive at the yellow farmhouse.
5.0 miles · about 10 min

A real card, worked out by the same code you will use. The place is made up.

Your visitors watch one number: the trip meter.

People lose count of "the second left after the creek". They do not lose a number on the dashboard. Every step on a Lanecard carries its reading from the start, so a visitor knows a turn is coming at 3.1 without counting anything.

  1. 0.0 Turn left the grain elevator on your right
  2. 2.3 Turn right a white church with a green roof
  3. 3.1 Bear left hay bales by a blue shed
  4. 4.7 Turn left a red mailbox, number 4180
  5. 5.0 Arrive the yellow farmhouse

One card, three ways to hand it over

A phone page

Big type, one step per row, the reading on the left. Send the private link, or put it on an invitation. No app to install.

A printed card

A 4x6 index card for the glovebox, or a sheet with tear-off strips for the feed store board and the mailbox post.

A text message

The same steps as plain text with the readings, ready to paste into a text for the delivery driver or the vet.

The card check catches what locals forget

You know the road too well to see the gaps. Before you share, Lanecard reads your steps the way a stranger would.

  • A turn with no landmark. Road signs go missing. A silo, a church or a coloured mailbox does not.
  • A long stretch with no "too far" check. Past 3 miles, visitors need to know what they will see if they overshoot.
  • A step with no distance, or a route that never says "Arrive".
  • No description of the place itself: the house colour, the gate, where to park.

Not for emergencies. In an emergency call 911 and give your street address. A card does not replace a posted house number. Never put gate codes, alarm codes or where the key is hidden on a card: anyone with the link can read it.
